Diabetics, do you know people who are always telling you how to control your diabetic challenge? I do! The only problem is that most of them don’t know as much about the disease as you do.

Here are a few examples of what I’ve been told over 42 years with the disease:

1. Chuck, you need to cut down on the amount of sugar you take in your body.

This was told to me at the gym one day and I was taking sugar so the hypoglycemic reaction I was having would end and I would get my body back to normal. Most diabetics know that exercise tends to decrease the blood glucose levels in the body. Often though someone who has no clue other than what someone else told them is usually giving you the advice.

2. Chuck, why don’t you stop drinking wine? It will throw your diabetes out of whack. I only drink wine, no hard alcohol, and not to “get drunk.” Most reports show that wine tends to lower blood sugar levels.

Moderation is the key here. By the way, I like wine!

3. I had a “nutrition expert” tell me that she has had Type 1 diabetes cured by clients taking her products. When I questioned her about this, it turned out that one (1) diabetic had reported she is no longer taking insulin because of her diet and the nutrition supplement she was taking.

Think about it, there are over 29,000,000 diabetics in America and another estimated 9,000,000 diabetics that have not been diagnosed yet. NOT GREAT ODDS FOR TYPE 1’S INSTANT CURES FOLKS!

Note that there have been many Type 2 Diabetics, who because of their supplements, exercise, diet and diligence, now have no symptoms of the disease. (The nutrition industry serves a great purpose today; however, some people are just “making the sale.” Supplements do help the body. But, simply know who you are working with.)

4. Chuck, you need to________. Fill in the blank.

How often do you hear this from “good intentioned” friends, family and even strangers.

Do this friends, listen and take the advice you know to be correct. Don’t get strung out by good intentioned people who know nothing about what you are going through.
